Parents who want to come into Barnstaple to pick up those last minute Christmas gifts but worry about juggling the choosing and buying of presents in front of their youngsters, will have their lives made a lot easier with a free children’s Art Crèche, organised by Barnstaple Town Management.

“We came up with the idea of the Art Crèche in an effort to ease the burden on parents so that they have somewhere secure to leave youngsters for a couple of hours, said Craig Bulley, Town Centre Manager. “The crèche will be held in 5, Cross Street, Barnstaple where the hairdressers used to be, and will be available for three Saturdays in December- 5th, 12th and 19th.

“We are running 2 lots of two-hour sessions on all three days from 10 am-12 noon and 2pm – 4pm and your child can be booked in for either a morning or afternoon session.

“The crèche will accommodate children from the age of four years and upwards, drinks and light refreshments will be provided, so the organisers will need to be aware of any dietary requirements your child has.

“They will be under the supervision of fully qualified Play and Childcare workers and whilst parents are getting those special presents sorted, the children can come and play with a range of arts and craft materials, toys and games, so come dressed for mess!”

All sessions will need to be pre-booked by the Wednesday prior to the requested session, with places being offered on a first booked basis. Parents will be contacted to confirm their child’s place in the crèche. While sessions are free, a late pick up charge of £5 will be made to cover additional staffing costs.
