The Strand
Closed to general traffic from 10am to 6pm but can be accessed by coaches coming into town across Barnstaple Long Bridge and taking the short slip road on the left. The Strand offers a lot of space to drop off and pick up, with the town centre less than one minute’s walk away. Postcode: EX31 1EU
North Walk
Accessed via the Taw Bridge, Braunton Road/Rolle Street and turning right onto North Walk. Postcode: EX31 1TP
Queen’s Theatre, Boutport Street
For coaches approaching the town via Queen Street. Coaches can then exit straight down Boutport Street onto the roundabout at Mermaid Walk. Postcode: EX31 1SY
The Square
Offers limited drop off and pick up point outside Barnstaple Town Council Offices. This is accessed from Barnstaple Long Bridge. Postcode: EX32 8LS
Coach parking
Available at the Seven Brethren Coach Park, access off Station Road, Sticklepath, Barnstaple for £1.50 per hour or £8.00 all day. Postcode: EX31 2AS.
Parking/Park & Ride
Barnstaple has car park amenities within easy walking distance of the town centre. There is also a Park & Ride based at Park School, Newport, Barnstaple, with buses running at frequent intervals into the town centre.
Tarka Trail
The Tarka Trail begins at Barnstaple station and offers access to 21 miles of level, scenic traffic free cycling and walking. From Barnstaple the trail follows the River Taw, where the estuary is rich with wild birds. Cycle hire is available from the Tarka Trail Cycle Hire at Barnstaple station.
Public Transport
Barnstaple has a regular bus service servicing the town, and in addition is easily accessible by train via the scenic Tarka Line from Exeter. Trains run seven days a week all year round, with an hourly service on weekdays and Saturdays.

Go North Devon Ltd (GND) helps with transport or mobility problems in North Devon, providing transport and mobility services to people who are unable to use public transport, either due to age or disability. Particular services available are: Ring and Ride, Shopmobility, Cancer Care Car Service, Transport To Health , and Leisuremobility. The centre is in Albert Lane, adjacent to the Bus Station in Queens Street, Barnstaple. Opening times are Monday to Friday from 9.15 am to 4.00 pm.
Tourist Information Office
Is situated within the North Devon Museum, The Square, Barnstaple. Visitors can pick up maps of the town centre from here as well as many shops and businesses around the town. The map can also be downloaded from this website- see top of homepage. Postcode: EX32 8LS.
