Regeneration

North Devon District Council, together with a number of key agencies including Town Centre Management and Devon County Council, is working on a number of projects that will dramatically change Barnstaple over the coming years.

Over the next 5 years there will be massive investment in the town, beginning with the opening of the Barnstaple Western Bypass in May 2007.

The Council is working closely with all the agencies involved in these projects, to make sure that the impact of the regeneration is managed carefully. With a number of key developments taking place in Barnstaple at the same time, it is important to minimise the disruption to the town and take advantage of the opportunities for working together to reduce costs and share resources.

The attached chart shows the structure of the team managing the Barnstaple regeneration project, overseen by the Executive of North Devon District Council. The Project Management group meets monthly and work to a number of goals:
