Cattle Market
A development brief for this site was also adopted in January 2005.
However, it will be important to keep one part of the town centre as an area for “no change”, pending the completion of other development projects. This will maintain some stability for the business community. At present the proposals for redevelopment of this area will be on hold.
The most pressing issues for the Cattle Market at this time are public toilets and the need for a Pay-on-Foot car park for the town centre. A solution is currently being investigated and the Council hopes to provide toilet facilities on this site as soon as possible.
Work on both of these projects is due to start early 2008.
