The countdown to Christmas starts now!
There's a packed programme of events planned in Barnstaple in the run up to Christmas, kicking off with the town's light switch-on event at the Square on Sunday 22 November.

There's a great line-up of local talent performing live from 2pm onwards, with BRIT Award-winning BLAKE taking time out from their concert of Christmas Classics at the Queen's Theatre to switch on the town's lights.
The afternoon will see some of our talented youngsters from Barnstaple Youth Choir and Stagecoach Theatre Arts School take to the stage to get us all in the Christmas spirit before handing over to some talented local singers / songwriters. These include Yazzy, an award winning 16 year old who, after launching her debut album Silly Boys Breaking Hearts in September hit the No 1 spot in the Amazon Folk Charts and 25 year old singer / songwriter Jim Heard who with his popular punk influenced acoustics and hopeful melodies will keep the party going.

The full line-up is:
• 2.00pm Barnstaple Youth Choir
• 2.30pm Stagecoach Theatre Arts
• 3.15pm Andrew Vanstone
• 4.00pm Yazzy
• 5.00pm Beach Talk: Jim Heard
• 6.00pm Switch on: Blake
• 6.15pm – 7.00pm One Man Boycott
Following the lights switch-on, BLAKE will get the crowd feeling really festive with a song from their debut Christmas album, before heading off to their gig at the Queen’s theatre.
For the first time the music will continue after the light switch-on with a set from one of our very best, One Man Boycott: a radio friendly pop-punk/rock four piece from North Devon who will be finishing off their latest run of live dates in their home town. Their music brings together catchy, melodic tunes set apart by uncommonly powerful vocals you can't help but sing along to. With an eagerly awaited debut album due to be released on Super Sick Records in early 2016, One Man Boycott promise a show to remember. Not to be missed!
In between acts; you can enjoy a family fun fair on the Strand, visit Santa in his grotto at Green Lanes, or make a start on your Christmas shopping.
