New Year's Eve Fireworks

Barnstaple will be welcoming in 2015 with fireworks tonight -New Year’s Eve – thanks to the success of 11th hour negotiations with leading business people in the town.
Initially, there had been widespread disappointment at news the display had been pulled due to demolition work at Anchorwood Bank – the traditional firing site by the banks of the River Taw. But following discussions with site developers – and the goodwill of Barnstaple businesses – the show at midnight tonight, December 31, will now go ahead.
Barnstaple Town Centre Manager, Craig Bulley, has led the discussions and planning and said, “On behalf of the town, I’d like to thanks SIG, Wessex Developments and Gilpin Demolition for their understanding and allowing us to use Anchorwood for the display.”
The North Devon Gazette; BID Barnstaple; Barnstaple Town Centre Management, M&E Alarms; Stagecoach; Brend Hotels; Lilicos; Jewels 4 U; and Devon County Councillors Brian Greenslade and John Matthews are all contributing to this year’s display.
