Learn the art of visible mending with Molly Rooke from Darn Good Studio.
In this course you’ll learn how to darn a hole on a piece of knitwear using colourful yarns to accentuate and celebrate the act of mending, and have a go at a couple of different darning styles.
The visible mending movement is about sharing and celebrating acts of repair. Learn the traditional skill of darning with a contemporary twist, using colourful yarns to accentuate and celebrate your mends. Darning is an incredibly useful skill that doesn’t just apply to socks and knitwear – it can be used across multiple fabrics. Participants will learn how to darn in a couple of styles on a knitted sampler, with all materials included. You can also bring any items of clothing you’d like some advice on mending as there’ll be time for questions at the end.
Molly Rooke is a self-taught mender who set up Darn Good Studio after learning to darn during lockdown. Coming from an arts background, Molly uses her visual eye to create beautiful mends that honour the act of repair.
