My Patience is an autobiographic poetry play, devised entirely by Nayomie James, working with a collection of verbatim poetry written by a local author, L B Rousseau.
The fictional character, Dr. Lucy Buchanan welcomes you into her GP surgery to explore her musings on university life, her patients, love, motherhood, sensuality, suicide and death. Navigating the different costumes we wear at work, at home, as a parent, a friend, a lover: poet Dr. L B Rousseau brings an artistry to her writing that speaks of someone who has been composing for years. No subject is out of bounds, no emotions are off-limits, Rousseau is a maestro, conducting with her pen.
