Starting at Barnstaple Library for refreshments, Jess will chat about her work and what inspired her to become a filmmaker/artist. We will then start to think about where we live, and Jess will lead a photography exercise where we’ll be taking photos of our local area as well as using photos of our homes and memories – please feel free to bring some with you.
After lunch (please bring your own food) we’ll head to Studio KIND where Jess will give a tour of her current exhibition, and we will be thinking more in-depth about where we ‘live’ – whether that’s in our bodies, our homes, our communities, or somewhere else. We’ll be using collage to create images from memory. This could be a self-portrait, a childhood home, or an abstract image.
We will focus on how we can bring together different ideas to create an artwork that tells a story.
The work is open to beginners with no experience of art. We will be thinking about what the starting point of art-making is, how we bring together different ideas, and what creativity feels like.
Please bring a digital camera or smartphone in order to take photos.
Suitable for ages 16+
Tickets £10
